RESULT OF LIGASURE HEMORRHOIDECTOMY FOR THROMBOSED HEMORRHOIDS AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY HOSPITAL IN 2017 – 2019

Abstract

Background: Ligasure hemorrhoidectomy is highly effective in treatment for the hemorrhoids. Objectives: The purpose of study is assessed characteristically clinical and efficient at Milligan- Morgan hemorrhoidectomy using Ligasure scalpel. Materials and Method: Between 6/2017 and 6/2019, sixty six patients were treated by Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy using Ligasure scalpel. After the surgery, the patients were assessed the following main outcomes: postoperative pain, early and late complications (bleeding, anal stenosis, urinary retention,...), days of hospitalization, the time of recovery of work, the time of wound healing. All patients had a minimum follow-up of four months. Results: The mean age was 43,3±14,1 (19-90), 63,64% was male and male/female: 1,75/1. The onset of thrombosed after bowel movement was 55,1%. The time mean of surgery was 30 ± 10 minutes. The pain score at the first day was 5±1,3. 18,3% patients had urinary retention, 50 (75,5%) patients had postoperative bleeding and successfully conservative treatment. Conclusions: Ligasure hemorrhoidectomy was safe and effective procedure for thrombosed hemorrhoids. It had shorter operating time, reduced postoperative pain, return to work, and allowed surgical wounds to heal fast.
