Abstract

Background: COVID-19 is an infectious and highly contagious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome, targets the respiratory system of the human body. To date, there is no specific antiviral treatment for coronavirus, treatments are only supportive. Vaccination against COVID-19 is the most active and effective measure to prevent and control COVID-19. However, there are many reports that the vaccination has many side effects, especially in the first 24 hours. Objectives: To determine the rate of adverse reactions within 24 hours after the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Materials and methods: A descriptive crosssectional study with analysis on 322 AstraZeneca vaccine subjects at the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital who were interviewed through an online survey questionnaire from April 2021 to July 2021. Results: The rate of adverse reactions was 76.4%. Conclusion: Common side effects after vaccination against COVID-19 are pain, injection site pain, fever, headache, chills, muscle, and joint pain.
