EVALUATION OF THE VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF THE SCALE TO ASSESS KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND PRACTICES REGARDING THE APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN EDUCATION OF NURSING STUDENTS

Abstract
Background: The rapid development of artificial intelligence demands innovation in modern education and healthcare, especially for nursing students, who are among the core forces in the healthcare system. This study evaluates the validity and reliability of a scale designed to assess nursing students’ knowledge, attitudes and practices in applying artificial intelligence to their education. Objectives: To evaluate the validity and reliability of the scale assessing knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the application of artificial intelligence in education of nursing students. Materials and methods: The study employed the scale “Exploring knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards artificial intelligence among health professions’ students in Jordan” developed by Walid AlQerem (2023). The scale was translated into Vietnamese and its content validity was evaluated by five experts in the fields of nursing and information technology. Results: The the scale assessing knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the application of artificial intelligence in education of nursing students demonstrated item-level content validity index (I-CVI) values of 0.8 or higher, a scale-level content validity index average (S-CVI/Ave) of 0.83 or higher, and a universal agreement (S-CVI/UA) of 0.97 for clarity, comprehensibility, and applicability. The reliability coefficient of the knowledge, attitude, and practice subscales was 0.71, 0.83 and 0.84, respectively, while the barrier subscale showed a reliability of 0.82. Conclusions: The scale demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability and is suitable for assessing knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding the application of artificial intelligence in the learning of nursing students in Vietnam.
