Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Measles is a highly contagious disease with severe complications. This study aims to explore the epidemiological, clinical characteristics, and complications of measles in vaccinated children. Objectives: To describe certain epidemiological, clinical characteristics, complications, and treatments of vaccinated children with measles at Children’s Hospital 1. Materials and methods: Descriptive case series study conducted from January 2018 to December 2020 on children aged 1 month to 4 years who had been vaccinated against measles. Results: Among 135 vaccinated children with measles, the rate of the first dose vaccination was higher than the second dose. Common symptoms included fever, cough, rash, and catarrh. 63.7% of the children had complications, mainly pneumonia. Over 80% of the children received antibiotic treatment, with Ceftriaxone being the most used. Nearly 90% of the children were discharged within one week. Conclusions: The rate of measles in vaccinated children remains high, with significant complications. Enhanced awareness and promotion of measles vaccination are necessary.
