Abstract

Background: Pre-clinical medical skills can help medical students reinforce and integrate the necessary skills for clinical practice. Enhancing the capabilities of healthcare professionals in preclinical medical skills should be studied and implemented in training to optimize the use of these skills, thereby improving the quality of healthcare and treatment capabilities for the community. Objectives: To evaluate of the frequency of clinical application of pre-clinical medical skills. Material and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 1.002 healthcare professionals currently pursuing postgraduate studies in specialty level 1, master's programs, residency, and young healthcare professionals who have been working for less than 12 months at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Results: The frequency of application of communication skills groups currently taught at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in clinical practice had an average score ranging from 7.88 to 8.13 on a scale from 1 to 10; the examination skills groups score between 7.19 and 8.03 points; and the procedural skills groups range from 6.86 to 8.46 points. Conclusion: The frequency of application of communication, examination, and procedural skills has reached a high level, and practice should be further strengthened through simulations and in clinical settings.
