SURVEY ON KNOWLEDGE OF USING ORAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS AND RELATED FACTORS OF DENTAL STUDENTS AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY IN 2022 – 2023

Abstract
Background: Understanding knowledge of using oral hygiene products and choosing appropriate items are concerns of many students, especially the first three years students in major of Dental. Objectives: 1) Evaluating knowledge of oral hygiene products of the first three years Dental students, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2022 – 2023. 2) Determining the level of influence of factors related to the choice of oral hygiene products of the first three years Dental students, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2022 – 2023. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with analysis of 400 first-three-years Dental students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2022 – 2023. Information were identified through interviews using survey form via personal email account. Results: The percentage of students with average knowledge about using oral hygiene products was relatively high, which was 54.5% of students. The third-year students accounted for the highest proportion of the totals achieving good knowledge with 63%. In terms of the influence of relevant factors, the group of commercial factors had a great impact on students' choice of oral hygiene products. Conclusions: Most students had basic knowledge but did not understand thoroughly about common oral hygiene products. The main factors that governed students' choice were commercial groups.
