RATE OF HPV VACCINATION IN FEMALE STUDENTS AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY

Abstract

Background: Vaccination against HPV is one of the best ways to prevent cervical cancer, HPV vaccine help to preclude over 90% cancer cause by HPV. Objective: To determine the rate of HPV vaccination to prevent cervical cancer among female students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2023. Materials and method: A cross sectional descriptive study controlled over 763 female students by selecting a stratified sample and conducting face-to-face interviews according to a prepared set of questions from January to July 2023. Results: Overall HPV vaccination rate was 35.1%; 1 injection 15.7%; 2 injections 13.1%; 3 injections 71.3%. Cervarix vaccination rate 17.9%; Gardasil 4 accounted for 44.8%; Gardasil 9 accounted for 13.8%; don't remember the vaccine 23.5%. The rate of vaccination among female students in the 6th year accounted for 38.9%; 4th year accounted for 36.7%; the 3rd year accounted for 35.4%, the 2nd year accounted for 20%, the 1st year accounted for 27.1%. HPV vaccination rate 36.7% in general medicine; Next is preventive medicine, accounting for 35.2%. Conclusion: Rate of HPV vaccination was not high in female students, the highest rate in 6th years medicine student.
