Abstract

Background: Gallstones in the liver are common among Vietnamese people, but the treatment remains difficult as the rate of stone retention and recurrence is high, especially when there is inflammation of the biliary tract. Objectives: To study on clinical and subclinical characteristics and evaluate the results of treatment of gallstones treated by electrohydraulic lithotripsy through T-tube tract at Can Tho Central General Hospital from May 2020 to January 2021. Materials and methods: 53 patients with remaining bile duct stones after operation were performed endoscopic lithotripsy through T-tube tract. Results: Intrahepatic stones were found in 100%. 41.51% of the patients had stones in both sides of liver. The ability of approaching of endoscopic machine was 100%. Clearance of stones was 86.79%, remaining stones accounted for 13.21%. The average number of times of lithotripsy was 1.62 ± 0.90, complication rate was 5.66% (biliary tract bleeding). Conclusion: The study of 53 cases of electrohydraulic lithotripsy through Ttube tract shows that the procedure has been a simple, yet highly effective and gentle technique for patients, and can resolve internal and external gallstones, the ability to access stones by the bronchoscope is good, the rate of stone clearance is high and the rate of complications is low.
