COMMUNICATION OF THE NURSES – MIDWIFES WITH PATIENTS IN CLINICAL DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRIC AND PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL TRA VINH

Abstract
Background: Communication between patients, relatives and health workers is increasingly concerned by society and health agencies from the central to local levels. The effective communication is expressed by the satisfacted level and is among of the criteria of the Health Ministry to evaluate hospital quality every year. Objectives: Identify the satisfaction rate of patients and determine a number of factors related to the communication between nurses, midwives and patients in the clinical departments of Tra Vinh’s Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted by 261 patients and their relatives in the clinical departments of Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital Tra Vinh from April to July 2019. Results: The communication of nurses - midwives with patients and relatives of the patients reached a quite high satisfaction level of 87.7%. Patients with health insurance assessment a better of the communication satisfaction of nurses - midwifes (89.4%) compared to uninsured patients (16.7%). Conclusions: With the high rate of communication satisfaction of midwifery nursing, it will bring comfort to patients and relatives when visiting and treating at obstetric and pediatric hospital in Tra Vinh province.
