Abstract
Background: Inguinal hernia is a common surgical condition with many treatments including open surgery and laparoscopy. Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernioplasty using three-dimensional mesh has advantages. Objectives: To determine the clinical characteristics, ultrasound images of inguinal hernia. To evaluated results of laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernioplasty using three-dimensional mesh. Materials and Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study on 49 patients diagnosed with inguinal hernia and designated endoscopic surgery to place. Record clinical features, ultrasound images and evaluate treatment results early after 1 month. Results: About clinical features: The average age was 50 ± 18,5. The average duration of hernia occurred was 18 months. Hernia occurred while standing was 59.2%. Preoperative inguinal ultrasound recorded the sac include omentum 67.3%, intestinal loop 26.5%, omentum and intestinal loop 6.2%. The mean time of operation was 60.91 minutes. The mean time of placing mesh was 6.87 minutes. There was only one patient with severe pain. The mean time of hospital stay was 3.12 days. Complications were seroma 10.2%, minor pain was 2.04%. Conclusion: Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernioplasty using 3D mesh has some advanced results such as: short meshplacement time, minor postoperative pain, low rate of complications.
