CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS, SUBCLINICAL AND EVALUATING RESULTS OF SURGICAL TREATMENT FOR SPONTANEOUS INTRACEREBRAL HEMORRHAGE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (SICH) is a medical emergency with potentially devastating morbidity and mortality. SICH was diagnosed based on clinical and subclinical examination. Therefore, it is crucial for primary emergency management and identification of indications for early neurosurgical intervention wil be defined. Objectives: Describe the clinical characteristics, subclinical and evaluating results of surgical treatment for SICH at Can Tho general central hospital from 2018 to 2020. Materials and methods: prospective, descriptive study of 51 patients with SICH who underwent surgery at Can Tho general central hospital from 2018 to 2020. Results: The mean age was 54.14 years, male ratio was 70.59%, the antecedent hypertension rate was reported in 90.2%. GCS ≤8 accounted for 19.61%, 39.22% patients showed headache, conscious disorders accounted for 62.75%. Bleeding sites was 86.96% basal ganglia, hematoma volume average 44.43ml. Average operation time was 175.49 minutes. Hospital length of stay was 20 days. Mortality rate was 7.84%. A favorable outcome rate (mRS ≤3) was 13.73%. A favorable outcome rate after operation for one-month was 48.94%, mortality rate was 4.26%. Conclusion: Surgical treatment for SICH might improve mortality rate, but the sequelae of brain damage are still severe, the disability rate is high, thus affecting the quality of life.
