Abstract
Background: Kidney complications are a very serious problem for patients with diabetes. When patients with diabetes have complications, good blood sugar control is very important. Objectives: To evaluate the results of glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with complications of chronic kidney disease at Kien Giang General Hospital in 2021-2022. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study on 96 patients with type 2 diabetes with complications of chronic kidney disease. Results: The mean duration of disease of 96 patients was 11 ± 8.7 years, 27.1% of subjects belonged to high blood pressure group; All patients were in stage 3 or more renal failure. 85.0% of patients were treated with insulin alone. According to KDOQI's HbA1c index, in 2020 the success rate of sugar control was 24.0%. In the 3 stages of renal failure, the rate of glycemic control in the group with stage 5 renal failure accounted for the highest rate of 46.2%, the difference between these groups was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Similarly, the study did not find a statistically significant relationship between the effectiveness of blood sugar control and blood pressure history (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Results of successful blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes with complications of chronic kidney disease at Kien Giang General Hospital, from November 2021 to June 2022, was not high (less than 40%).
