SLEEP DISORDERS AND RELATED FACTORS TO SLEEP DISORDERS AMONG INPATIENTS AT CAN THO CENTRAL GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

Background: Sleep disorders are among the most common problems that affect quality of life. Objectives: To investigate the proportion of patients with sleep disorders and factors related to sleep disorders in some departments at Can Tho Central General Hospital. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study included 207 patients of Can Tho Central General Hospital from 09/2019 to 02/2020. Results: Patients with PSQI score 5 after being hospitalized accounted for 41.06%. The PSQI mean score was 5.29 ± 4.075. Related factors were surveyed: gender has affected sleep quality, the percentage of females was higher than males at statistical level (p<0.05), living habits (smoking, drinking alcohol and using of stimulants) also had a significant effect on sleep quality (p<0.05). Conclusion: Sleep disorders accounted for 41.06% of inpatients at Can Tho Central General Hospital. There is a correlation between sleep disorders and gender differences (females more than males), living habits (smoking, drinking alcohol, and taking drugs).
