CLINICAL, SUBCLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND TREATMENT RESULTS OF CERVICAL CANCER STAGE IIB – IIIB BY HEMORADIOTHERAPY AT CAN THO ONCOLOGY HOSPITAL IN 2019-2020

Abstract

Background: Chemoradiotherapy is the main treatment for patients with stage IIB- IIIB cervical cancer. This study evaluates the result of chemoradiotherapy in the treatment of stage IIB- IIIB cervical cancer. Objectives: To characterize clinical, subclinical and to dertermine response rates and side effects and analysis of several associated factors in the patients with stage IIB- IIIB cervical cancer receiving chemoradiotherapy. Materials and methods: During the study period January 2019 to June 2020, we collected 51 cases meeting the sample selection criteria at the Can Tho Oncology Hospital. Results: The average age is 55 ± 8, the average size is 4.2± 1,1cm and there are 70.6% of large size tumors (> 4cm), papilloma macroscopic tumors usually account for 62.7%, papillary carcinoma accounting for 84.2%, stage IIB accounts for 52.9% and stage IIIB accounts for 45.1%, rate of pelvic lymph node metastasis is 33.3%, hydronephrosis is 5.9%. After 3 months of chemotherapy, the complete response after 3 months is 88.2%, the complete response after 6 months is 85.1%, the rate of metastatic progression disease accounts for 14.9%. The most common side effect is vaginitis, which accounts for 76.5%. Conclusion: The treatment of stage IIB- IIIB cervical cancer by chemoradiotherapy is a highly effective treatment with acceptable side effects.
