Abstract

Background: Gallstones are common diseases in Vietnam as well as in other countries in the world. The one-stage endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) has many advantages and also the current preferred combination for the treatment of common bile duct (CBD) stones and gallbladder stones. Objectives: To evaluate the results of treatment concomitant gallstones and CBD stones by one-stage ERCP and LC. Materials and methods: a serial case report of 20 patients who underwent ERCP and LC during the same session, from January 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020. Results: Sex ratio male/female was 7/13, mean age was 50.10 ± 13.97, the mean duration of the endoscopic procedures was 38.85 ± 25.33 minutes, the mean operative time 78.95 ± 30.03 minutes. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 6.95 ± 4.5 days, the success rate of the endoscopic procedures was 95% with CBD stone clearance rates was 100%. The mean treatment cost was 14.87 ± 6.68 millions VND. Conclusion: One-stage ERCP and LC was safe, effective, has a high success rate, and low complication rate with reasonable treatment costs.
