 Viêm loét đại tràng (UC: Ulcerative Colitis) là một bệnh mạn tính ảnh hưởng đến đại tràng, có tỷ lệ mắc bệnh đang tăng trên toàn thế giới. Gần 1 triệu trường hợp ở Mỹ và Châu Âu bị ảnh hưởng bởi bệnh lý này và ngày càng tăng lên toàn cầu. Hơn 1 thập kỷ qua, kể từ công bố hướng dẫn gần nhất của Hội Tiêu hóa Hoa Kỳ (ACG), sự quản lý bệnh này ngày càng phức tạp so với điều kiện điều trị sẵn có. Mặc khác, các phác đồ khởi đầu, tối ưu hóa và theo dõi sự đáp ứng của các điều trị trước đây giờ đã trải qua sự đổi mới đáng kể. Trong đó phải kể đến hướng dẫn mới nhất của của Hội Tiêu hóa Hoa Kỳ (ACG) 2019 và cập nhật của Hiệp Hội Tiêu hóa Nhật Bản (JSGE) 2020 về cập nhật chẩn đoán và điều trị Viêm loét đại tràng. Cập nhật theo các khuyến cáo giúp ích cho việc quản lý Viêm loét đại tràng, góp phần giảm tỷ lệ nhập viện, phẫu thuật và biến chứng ung thư, nâng cao chất lượng cuộc sống cho người bệnh.
