CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND CURRENT USE TREND OF ESSENTIAL OILS FROM LEAVES OF GENUS EUCALYPTUS (EUCALYPTUS SP.) IN VIETNAM AND THE WORLD: A REVIEW
Main Article Content
Abstract
In recent years, the world is tending to pay more attention to the use of essential oil to prevent and treat dental diseases. In particular, the Eucalyptus genus belonging to the family Myrtaceae originating in Australia, is known to be used to extract essential oil, in the Eucalyptus genus in Vietnam very diverse species and each species, there are also different components. Therefore, in this article, the authors will generalize the chemical composition of some species of Eucalyptus genus, and also consider the activity and outstanding pharmacological effects that can be used in the current trend of Eucalyptus’s essential oil as antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, used on the teeth in the composition of mouthwash, toothpaste, oral hygiene, supporting the treatment of respiratory diseases steaming, repelling insects, using herbicides in agriculture, aromatherapy and inhibiting virus in the treatment of Covid-19. Eucalyptus is diverse in chemical composition and pharmacological effects as well as current usage trends in Vietnam and the world. Overview can be considered as the basis for in-depth studies into the effects and importance of components from Eucalyptus’s leaves.
