Abstract

Background: Postpartum mothers' knowledge of neonatal hypothermia and measures to regulate infant temperature play an important role in infant health care, reducing morbidity and prevalence child mortality. Objectives: To describe the current status of mothers' knowledge about neonatal hypothermia at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital; Identifying some factors related to mothers' knowledge of postpartum hypothermia at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. Materials and methods: Postpartum mothers at the Department of Obstetrics and Pediatric Center, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. Research method: Cross section description. Research mothers 'knowledge of postpartum hypothermia and some factors related to mothers' knowledge. Results: In the study of over 377 postpartum mothers about knowledge about neonatal hypothermia, 53.8% of mothers had an average knowledge; 35.3% of mothers had poor knowledge and 10.9% had good knowledge. The study also found a relationship between the mother's knowledge about neonatal hypothermia by Age group, Education, Attending antenatal classes and Having received information on maternal neonatal hypothermia, Faculty of mothers is treating, Children is treating; p <0.05. Conclusion: This study shows that postpartum maternal knowledge about neonatal hypothermia is moderate. Nursing needs to pay more attention to providing knowledge for mothers, should be integrated into regular antenatal care services to the postpartum period.
