SITUATION OF SLEEP DISORDER OF CANCER PATIENTS BEING TREATED AT THE ONCOLOGY CENTER OF THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL IN 2020

Abstract

 Background: Cancer is a very popular disease in the world as well as in Vietnam. Cancer incidence and mortality are increasing, with an estimated 14.1 million people worldwide in 2014. Disorder sleep is the most common problem in people with cancer. An assessment of sleep disturbance in the hope of orienting the development of interventions is necessary to increase treatment effectiveness and minimize the effects of sleep disorder in cancer patients. So, we want to assess the level of sleep disorders of cancer patients at the Oncology Center of Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Objectives: Describe the status of disorder sleep in cancer patients being treated at Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Material and methods: A cross-sectional description was performed on 210 people with cancer from January 2020 to August 2020, using the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) scale. Results: The current situation of sleep disorders in cancer patients accounted for a high rate of 88.1%, of which: Difficulty falling asleep and difficulty maintaining sleep accounted for 90.5%; wake up too early 91.4%; have sleep anxiety (95.2%) and dissatisfaction with their sleep (53.3%). Conclusion: Research results show that cancer patients with sleep disorders account for a very high rate (88,1%).
