Abstract

Background: The lower genital tract infection is an infection of the genital organs, common in reproductive age women. The disease not only affects women's health but also affects their spirit, ability to become a wife and mother of them in the future. Objectives: To identify the prevalence of lower genital tract infections and describe the knowledge of lower genital tract infections among women of reproductive age at Tra Vinh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 340 women at the Medical examination department of Tra Vinh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital from April to August, 2020. Results: The prevalence of lower genital tract infections was 12.1%, of which the most common disease is vaginitis with 46.3%. The most symptom of lower genital tract infection was found by fever symptom, which was absolute prevalence at 100%. The rate of lower genital tract infection knowledge was from 7.4% to 39.7%, of which the awareness of the cause disease was poor genital hygiene accounting for 34.4%, while knowledge about disease prevention accounted for the highest proportion with the daily genital hygiene at 39.4%. Conclusion: The prevalence of lower genital tract infections and the rate of knowledge disease were lower recent studies than. The knowledge and prevention of lower genital tract infection should be porvided by gynecologists and midwife.
