Abstract
Background: Osteoarthritis greatly affects the health and daily life of patients. Research by Ho Pham Thuc Lan shows that people over 40 years of age have a rate of osteoarthritis is 66% [1]. About two-thirds of people with osteoarthritis, today are women [2]. If not detected and treated promptly, the patient is at risk of permanent disability, especially in perimenopausal women. Objectives: To determine the proportion of women with correct knowledge, attitude, and practice and to find out some related factors about the prevention of osteoarthritis of perimenopausal women in Thoi Long ward, O Mon district, Can Tho City in 2021. Materials and methods: Descriptive cross-sectional design with analysis on 420 perimenopausal women in Thoi Long ward, O Mon district, Can Tho city in 2021. Face-to-face interviews with a set of prepared questions, combined
with practical observations. Results: The ratio of knowledge, attitude, and practice is 35.2%, 73.1%, and 60%, respectively; found a statistically significant correlation between knowledge and practice; knowledge with attitude (p≤ 0.05). Conclusion: Knowledge, attitude, and practice will affect the prevention of osteoarthritis. Enhance knowledge and guide to correct practice to prevent degenerative joint disease more effectively.
