RESEARCH ON CHARACTERISTICS OF LONG-TERM COVID SYMPTOMS IN PATIENTS VISITING POST-COVID CLINICS – CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY HOSPITAL

Abstract
Background: Long COVID-19 symptoms cause disturbances in many organs to varying degrees. Finding the relationship between long COVID-19 symptoms and clinical and epidemiological factors in patients helps to monitor and treat appropriately to prevent complications, reduce mortality after the acute phase and the occurrence of post COVID-19 sequelae. Objectives: To evaluate characterization of long COVID-19 symptoms of COVID-19 in patients visiting the Post COVID clinic - Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Materials and methods: Longitudinal follow-up study in the Post COVID clinic - Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital patients with persistent COVID-19 symptoms and their medical history and habits Results: A total of 305 patients participated with the highest age group being 15-59. The female/male ratio was 6/4. History of hypertension equivalent to 11.5%. The majority exercised 64.9%, used tea/coffee 59.7% and smoked 10.5%. Long COVID-19 symptoms accounted for a high rate such as cough, fever, sore throat, and runny nose, respectively 73.4%, 58.3%, 51.1%, 31.5%. Conclusion: There was an association between patient habits and long COVID-19 symptoms. Doctors need to have an overview of the factors with long COVID-19 patients and advice on maintaining an appropriate lifestyle for the patient.
