A SURVEY ON THE WILLINGNESS AND RELATED FACTORS OF COVID-19 VACCINATION AMONG STUDENTS OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINE AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY IN 2021

Abstract

Background: Maximizing community acceptance and coverage of Covid-19 vaccines is crucial in controlling the pandemic. In Vietnam, predictors of vaccine acceptance and motivation for vaccination among traditional medicine students need to be assessed. Objective: To determine the rate and some related factors to Covid-19 vaccination willingness among students majoring in Traditional Medicine at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2021. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 675 student majoring in Traditional Medicine at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy from June to July 2021; Using an online survey with a questionnaire created on the Google Form platform. Results: The study found that 44.7% of students were very willing, and 34.6% were willing to participate in Covid-19 vaccination. A multivariate regression analysis revealed that factors including marital status, course of study, history of chronic illnesses, and having acquaintances who have received the Covid-19 vaccine were associated with willingness to receive the vaccine among students of traditional medicine. Conclusion: The majority of traditional medicine students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy are willing to get vaccinated against Covid-19, demonstrating a positive attitude towards responding to the pandemic. However, some barriers still affect vaccination willingness. Managers and schools need to implement appropriate solutions to improve vaccination rates among these students.
