Abstract

Background: The Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) model is a widely used experimental model for inducing memory impairment in animals. It offers several advantages, including high translational relevance, ease of establishment, robust and reproducible responses, and suitability for mechanistic investigations. However, to date, there have been relatively few domestic studies employing LPSinduced models of memory impairment. Objectives: To establishment LPS-induced memory impairment model in mice. Materials and methods: Memory impairment was induced in Swiss albino mice via intraperitoneal administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) at three dosage levels: 3 mg/kg, 5 mg/kg, and 7 mg/kg body weight. Outcomes were evaluated based on behavioral test of memory function and mortality rates. Results: LPS at doses of 5 mg/kg and 7 mg/kg induced comparable levels of memory impairment, both of which were more pronounced than those observed at the 3 mg/kg dose.  Conclusions: This LPS-induced model of memory impairment was successfully established, with 5 mg/kg identified as the optimal dose.
