A SURVEY ON THE KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDES OF STUDENTS AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY WHO ARE INFECTED WITH COVID-19 ARE ISOLATED AT HOME

Abstract
Background: In the complicated situation of the epidemic, medical students play an important role in the prevention of the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, it is urgent to assess the knowledge and attitudes of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy students who are infected with COVID-19 and isolated at home. Objectives: 1). To determine the percentage of students who have passing knowledge and attitudes in the process of isolation and treatment of COVID-19 at home; 2). To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitude during isolation and treatment at home for students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on the 400 students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy students. Results: The percentage of students with passing knowledge accounted for 92%. Regarding attitude, the percentage of students with an interest level reaching a good level is 51.2%, the percentage of students with a responsive level getting a good level is 57.5%, and the percentage of students with an empathy level reaching a good level is 37.8%. There is a correlation between knowledge and attitude in the process of isolation and treatment at home of students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The difference is statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusions: In the current epidemic situation, it is necessary for medical students to have enough knowledge about COVID-19 and to have the right knowledge and attitude in self-isolation treatment at home and prevent infection in the community. The school needs to conduct training to propagate the danger of COVID-19 to raise awareness for students, especially for students with poor attitudes and knowledge, thereby helping to protect themselves well, family, and the community.
