CURRENT SITUATION OF DRUG STORAGE, STAFF KNOWLEDGE AND SOME FACTORS RELATED TO DRUG STORAGE AT SOME HEALTHCARE FACILITIES IN CAN THO CITY IN 2025

Abstract
Background: Proper drug storage is a prerequisite for ensuring drug quality and therapeutic efficacy. However, significant inadequacies remain in the implementation of these practices at many local healthcare facilities. Objective: This cross-sectional descriptive study aims to evaluate the status of Good Storage Practice (GSP) compliance and identify associated factors. Materials and methods: The study was conducted at 20 healthcare facilities in Can Tho City in 2025 and included staff in drug storage warehouses. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. Results: Most facilities were at the grassroots level with adequate staffing; however, the rate of formal GSP training was low (5/20). Regarding knowledge, 82.9% of staff met the required standards, whereas only 46.5% achieved a “good” level. Although all facilities complied with general procedures, compliance with infrastructure and documentation criteria remained limited. Overall, 55% of facilities practiced GSP at a "good" level. Analysis indicated a statistically significant association between knowledge, training, and storage practices (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Despite compliance with general regulations, GSP implementation remains inconsistent due to training deficits and infrastructure limitations. Prioritizing knowledge standardization and facility upgrades is essential to address current shortcomings and ensure sustainable drug storage efficacy.
