Abstract

Background: Facial aesthetic standards based on anthropometry have become increasingly diverse. Surveys conducted among individuals from China, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea reveal that each country has its own expectations and preferences regarding aesthetic outcomes, which are influenced by the nation’s overall development and regional customs. In addition to these factors, individual characteristics play a significant role in the variation and changes in anthropometric measurements. Objective: To describe certain anthropometric features of the face and identify personal factors influencing facial anthropometry. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 115 clients receiving treatment at the Dermatology Aesthetic Center of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital from December 2023 to December 2024. Results: Out of a total of 115 study participants, the intercanthal distance showed little variation among subjects. Most individuals exhibited symmetry along the midfacial axis, particularly in the philtrum–nasal columella region. The height from the upper eyelid crease to the lower brow margin significantly increased in individuals over 70 years old (11.50 ± 1.32 mm). Lower lip thickness markedly decreased in the 40–54 age group compared to younger groups, and larger lower lip size was more frequently observed in males. Conclusion: Age and gender are closely associated with the rate of aging and changes in facial anthropometric dimensions over time. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the factors influencing facial structure, thereby supporting the advancement of aesthetic interventions to optimize treatment outcomes.
