KHẢO SÁT KIẾN THỨC, THỰC HÀNH CỦA NGƯỜI DÂN VỀ SỬ DỤNG KHÁNG SINH TẠI XÃ VĨNH HÒA HƯNG BẮC, HUYỆN GÒ QUAO, TỈNH KIÊN GIANG NĂM 2023

Abstract

Background: Antibiotics are very important in protecting human health. In Vietnam, antibiotics are widely used. However, if antibiotics are abused, it will cause harm to the health of individuals and the community. Objective: To determine the rate of correct knowledge and practice about antibiotics among rural people in Vinh Hoa Hung Bac commune, Go Quao district, Kien Giang in 2023 and some related factors.  Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with analysis, on 439 people living in Vinh Hoa Hung Bac commune, Go Quao, Kien Giang from June 2023 to August 2023. Results: Only 43.5% of people answered correctly about knowledge about antibiotics used to treat bacterial diseases; 56.0% recognized that antibiotics have side effects. 38.3% of people believe that antibiotics can cure viral diseases, 52.8% of people shared antibiotics with others, 62.2% of people requested to buy antibiotics themselves... Some factors related to antibiotic use were age, occupation, education level, health insurance participation and choice of health care services (p≤0.05). Conclusion: 42.8% of people have correct knowledge about antibiotics, but only 10% use antibiotics properly, there is a relationship between knowledge and practice of antibiotic use with gender, age group, education level, and place of choice of health care services.
