Abstract

Background: Diaphyseal fractures of both forearm bones are among the most common injuries in children. The treatment of pediatric forearm fractures requires selecting an optimal method, preferably minimally invasive, to ensure good bone healing and rapid functional recovery. Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of treating closed diaphyseal fractures of both forearm bones in children using intramedullary Rush nails under fluoroscopic guidance at Can Tho Children’s Hospital. Materials and methods: We conducted a prospective, cross-sectional descriptive study on 42 children aged 6 to 15 years who underwent this procedure from July 2024 to June 2025, with a follow-up period of 6 months. Results: The average age of the patients was 11.55 ± 2.18 years; 35 were male (83.3%) and 7 were female (16.7%). Bone union was achieved in 100% of cases. According to the Price functional outcome criteria, 95.2% of patients achieved excellent or good results. Conclusion: Intramedullary Rush pinning under fluoroscopic guidance is a minimally invasive and effective method for treating closed diaphyseal forearm fractures in children, providing excellent anatomical and functional outcomes.
