ABSTRACT STUDY ON CLINICAL AND PARACLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PROGNOSIS VALUE OF MORTALITY OF INTERLEUKIN-6 IN PATIENTS WITH SEPTIC SHOCK AT VINH LONG GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2024-2025
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Septic shock is the leading cause of death in intensive care units. In patients with septic shock, some recent studies have shown that Interleukin-6 is valuable in assessing outcome treatment, with high levels of Interleukin-6 being a poor prognostic factor. Objectives: To describe some clinical and paraclinical characteristics in patients with septic shock, evaluate the treatment results of septic shock, determine the mortality rate and prognostic value of Interleukin-6 concentration in patients with septic shock. Materials and methods: 61 patient was diagnosed with septic shock and treated at the Department of Intensive Care and Treatment, Vinh Long General Hospital. Results: Septic shock patients in our study had an average age of 68.56±15.30, with a higher proportion of men than women. The most common site of infection was the respiratory tract, accounting for 60.7%. Common symptoms in patients with septic shock were dyspnea (59.0%), fever (54.1%), and altered consciousness (27.9%) with leukocytosis (15.7±10.5). The rate of treatment failure in patients with septic shock was 82.0%. Interleukin-6 at admission was not predictive of mortality in septic shock patients with a threshold value of 137pg/ml, p=0.4, AUC=0.49, sensitivity: 42%, specificity: 63%, 95%CI: 0.27-0.59.Conclusion: Interleukin-6 at admission was not predictive of mortality in patients with septic shock.
