Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Chickenpox is a common infectious disease caused by the Varicella-Zoster virus, which can lead to serious consequences if not treated and cared for properly. Currently, treatment of chickenpox mainly focuses on reducing symptoms, preventing infection and supporting skin recovery. Objectives: Describe some clinical characteristics, severity classification and survey the results of topical treatment of chickenpox with Zincpaste and Bodymed at Can Tho in 20232025. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional description of 42 chickenpox patients treated at Can Tho Hospital of Dermato-venereology and FOB International Cosmetic Dermatology Institute in 2023-2025. Results: Chickenpox occurs year-round. Most lesions were erythematous (95.2%) and vesicular (97.6%). All patients had lesions on the head, face, neck and trunk. Common complications were secondary infection (16.7%), scarring (7.1%). After 5 days of treatment, 81% responded well, 19% responded fairly well. After 10 days, 95.2% responded well, 4.8% responded fairly well. After 15 days, 100% responded well. Conclusions: The typical clinical features of chickenpox are erythema and vesicles that progress in stages. Most have a good prognosis. Treatment results show that the combination of Zincpaste and Bodymed helps reduce itching, dry the lesions quickly and maintain skin moisture, supporting the skin recovery process. This combination is safe, effective and can be widely applied in the treatment of chickenpox.
