SURVEY OF KNOWLEDGE ON INFECTION CONTROL OF STUDENTS OF CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY PARTICIPATING IN EPIDEMIC PREVENTION TEAMS IN 2021

Abstract
Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is a risky infectious disease. Equipping infection control knowledge for students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, one of the forces directly involved in supporting epidemic prevention and control, is essential. Objective: To determine the percentage of students with successful knowledge of infection control at medical examination and treatment establishments according to Decision No.5188/QD-BYT and the difference in knowledge between training disciplines. Material and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study using online interview questions on 292 students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy participating in epidemic prevention squads in 2021. Results: The level of understudies with effective information on disease control systems at clinical assessment and treatment foundations is 88.4%; standards and measures to control contamination with SARS-CoV-2 came to 96.2%; guidelines on stringing, screening, and secluding individuals tainted or associated with being contaminated with SARS- CoV-2 came to 95.9%; setting up the area, the detachment room came to 91.1%; utilization of individual defensive gear came to 82.2%; hand cleanliness process came to 80.8%; apparatus taking care of reached 43.8%; texture treatment came to 94.2%; cleaning and sanitizing ecological surfaces 97.6%; cleaning and cleaning vehicles shipping individuals tainted or associated with being tainted with SARS-CoV-2 came to 99%; squander treatment came to 98.3%. There is a connection between the discipline and information on contamination control, the difference is statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: The majority of students had good knowledge about infection control procedures for SARS-CoV-2 infection at medical examination and treatment facilities (88.4%). General medical students have better basic knowledge of SARS- CoV-2 infection control principles and measures than other classes.
