Abstract

Background: The incidence of chronic kidney disease is on the rise. Anemia is a common and dangerous complication for chronic kidney disease patients. Objectives: To determine the rate of anemia in chronic kidney disease patients who are being examined and treated at Tra Vinh Provincial General Hospital. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 300 patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease who were being examined and treated at Tra Vinh Provincial General Hospital from June to September 2023. Results: The study noted that the average age of the subjects was 55 years old. Female gender accounted for 55%, male accounts for 45%. The majority of patients with chronic kidney disease from 5 to 10 years account for 43.67% and patients with chronic kidney disease stage V account for 65.67%. Patients who had used dialysis treatment for 1 to 5 years account for 39.33%. The rate of anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease was 88%. The results showed that the rate of mild anemia was 24.62%, moderate anemia was 63.64% and severe anemia was 11.74%. The average hemoglobin concentration of the study subjects was 10.22 ± 1.83 g/dl. Conclusion: Anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease is high, mainly moderate anemia.
