Abstract

Background: Worldwide, studies evaluating the knowledge and practice of antibiotic use of pharmacy students have shown important limitations in the knowledge of pharmacy students that need to be improved. Objectives: To survey knowledge and practice of antibiotic use among pharmacy students at Tra Vinh University. 2. Identify factors related to students' knowledge and practice of antibiotic use. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional conducted on 365 Pharmacy students at Tra Vinh University by using pre-written online questionnaire on Google Forms. Results:  The proportion of students with good knowledge of antibiotics was 50.1%. 5th-year students had better knowledge than students from years 1 to 4. A total of 137 students (37.5%) practiced good antibiotic use. Factors related to students' knowledge included the number of years of pharmacy study, whether or not they often used health insurance, and whether or not they treated chronic diseases. There was a relationship between knowledge and practice (OR= 2.39; 95% CI: 1.54-3.70; p<0.001). Conclusions:  The rate of students with good knowledge and practice using antibiotics is still relatively low. It is necessary to focus on training knowledge and practice in antibiotics for pharmacy students.
