Abstract

Background: An Giang province has recorded a high number of Dengue fever cases and deaths for many years; therefore, it is necessary to understand the disease prevention practices and related factors among the population to propose appropriate improvement solutions in the future. Objectives: To determine the proportion of correct practice on Dengue fever and to identify some associated factors among people in An Giang province in 2024. Materials and method: A crosssectional descriptive study was conducted on 1.190 residents aged 18 years and older in An Giang province. Results: The rate of correct practice was 13.1%. Several factors were related to correct practice: Females exhibited a higher rate of correct practice compared to males (p<0.001); individuals with a high school education or higher demonstrated a higher rate of correct practice compared to those with an education below high school (p=0.028) and the group with correct general knowledge exhibited a higher rate of correct practice compared to the group with incorrect knowledge (p=0.002). Conclusions: The proportion of the population practicing correctly accounted for 13.1%. Effective communication is necessary to transform knowledge into practical behaviors, ensuring that all citizens possess the ability and awareness to implement appropriate disease prevention measures, thereby increasing the rate of correct practice, and reducing the risk of illness to protect individual and community health.
