Abstract

Background: CBL focuses on developing students' analytical and problem-solving abilities and aims to improve students' flexible use of relevant knowledge and skills to solve problems. In addition to strengthening the knowledge base, it also equips learners to develop self-learning skills and the ability to cope with challenges in the clinical environment. Objectives: To understand the learning experience, classroom engagement and critical thinking of second-year students in the CBL program. Materials and methods: This study was conducted on 267 second-year students taking the Physiology course, Renal Physiology chapter. Results: The test scores after applying the CBL method showed an improvement in students' learning outcomes. The survey results also showed that most students responded very positively to the CBL method in terms of understanding the learning experience, classroom engagement and critical thinking. Conclusions: CBL needs to be improved and applied more in future medical training programs.
