Abstract

Background: Medical students are prone to experiencing burnout in clinical learning. When students have not coping ability, they have risks of mental health problems. Objective: To determinine clinical learning pressure and the relationship between the ability to cope with clinical learning pressure of students at Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 459 students (response rate 99.7%/460) using the Educational pressure Scale for Adolescents (ESSA) with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.73 - 0.90 and the Adolescent Coping Scale (ACSC) with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.91. Results: It showed that 10.0% of students had low levels of academic pressure, 61.0% had moderate levels, and 29.0% experienced high levels of academic pressure. Regarding coping ability, 17.9% exhibited low coping, while 82.1% showed high coping. There was a correlation between coping ability and clinical learning pressure among students. Conclusion: Therefore, healthcare educators need to establish a rational clinical learning model and provide positive coping strategies to reduce clinical learning pressure for students.
