Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Plantar fasciitis causes complex pain in the heel and bottom of the foot. Treatment needs to be done properly and over time to relieve the disease from becoming chronic, recurring many times, and negatively affecting walking style and quality of life. Shockwave is a method proven to be highly effective in treating plantar fasciitis. Objective: To evaluate the results of treatment of plantar fasciitis with shock waves at the Rehabilitation Department of Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. Materials and methods: Describe and compare before and after treatment characteristics of 2 groups of patients. Results: The age group which was the most affected by plantar fasciitis was over 50 years old, with a rate of 54.4%; Female patients account for 69.6%; Patients who worked in jobs that require movement had a high rate of plantar fasciitis, 78.3%. Obesity and overweight had plantar fasciitis with a rate of 78.3%; After the intervention treatment group, 60.9% of patients were pain-free, while the pain-free demonstration group was 30.4%; The intervention group had perfect improvement in Gothic foot sensitivity according to the Heel Tenderness Index - HTI and in plantar thickness on ultrasound. Conclusion: Treatment of plantar fasciitis with shock waves brings good treatment effects.
