NURSES’ KNOWLEDGE IN APPLYING THE NURSING PROCESS AND RELATED FACTORS AT QUANG NAM NORTHERN MOUNTAINOUS REGION GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

Background: The nursing process is used in clinical practice to deliver qualityindividualized care to patients. Objectives: To evaluate nurses’ knowledge in applying the nursing process to patient care at Quang Nam Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital and identify related factors. Materials and methods: A Cross-sectional study was carried on 201 nurses working at Quang Nam Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital from November 2023 to January 2024. The questionnaires to assess knowledge includes 8 items had been designed based on previous research and literature. The cronbach alpha of this questionnaire was 0.97. Results: The average score of knowledge was 4.26 ± 0.52, where 2.63 was the lowest score and 5.00 was the highest score. The factors of education level, level of job satisfaction, and material support when implementing the nursing process had a statistically significant relationship (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Nurses’ knowledge level in nursing process is relatively high. However, appropriate measures are still needed to further improve nurses' knowledge of the nursing process.
