Abstract

Background: Evaluating student academic satisfaction is a crucial aspect of improving and maintaining educational quality. However, comprehensive and rigorous research on specialist level 1 nursing students' satisfaction with their programs remains limited in many nursing institutions. Objectives: To assess the level of satisfaction among specialist level 1 nursing students with their academic programs and to explore associated factors. Material and method: A cross-sectional study design was conducted on 223 specialty 1 nursing students studying at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, academic year 2023-2024. Results: Students reported high satisfaction with their program (4.18 ± 0.37). The highest satisfaction scores were for "In-class Teaching" (4.26 ± 0.45), followed by "Support and Resources" (4.22 ± 0.46), "The Program” (4.13 ± 0.47), and the lowest for "Clinical Teaching" (4.11 ± 0.44). There was a statistically significant correlation between satisfaction with the program and year level and students' academic outcomes. Conclusion: Specialist level 1 nursing students' satisfaction with the academic program is notably high. Higher institutions should focus on investing in quality lecturers, active teaching methods, infrastructure, especially improving the quality of clinical teaching and learning to meet the increasing demands of learners.
