SOME CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND RESULTS OF LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY TO PLACE ARTIFICIAL GRAFTS TO TREAT ABDOMINAL WALL INCISIONAL HERNIA AT CAN THO CITY GENERAL HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Abdominal incisional hernia is the most common late complication of laparotomy. Today, thanks to the advent and application of artificial grafts in hernia treatment, many surgical techniques have been improved and brought about desirable results, including laparoscopic graft surgery. Artificial graft to treat abdominal wall incisional hernia. Objectives: To survey some clinical and evaluate the results of abdominal wall incision hernia treatment using laparoscopic surgery to place artificial grafts. Materials and methods: Non-controlled clinical intervention study on 32 patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery to treat abdominal wall incisional hernias with artificial grafts at Can Tho City General Hospital from July 2022 to April 2024. Results: Mean age was 66.2±14.1 years. Ratio Male/Female was 0.6/1. Surgical history was 1 time accounted for the highest proportion with 19 cases (59.4%) and history of open surgery with 22 cases (68.8%). Average Body Mass Index was 21±2.7 kg/m2. Average surgery time was 163±79 minutes. The average time to eat and drink after surgery was 1.47±0.11 days, and walk was 1.9±0.15 days. The average postoperative hospital stay was 5.4±2.7 days. Postoperative complications accounted 15.6% with 3 cases of surgical wound seroma, 1 case of peritonitis due to organ perforation and 1 case of electrical burns. Conclusion: Laparoscopic surgery to place artificial grafts to treat incisional hernia is a safe treatment method that initially brings some positive results.
