CLINICAL FEATURES, CONE BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY AND ELUVATION OF THE RESULTS OF PERIAPICAL SURGERY WITH RETROGRADE FILLING BY BIODENTINE AND PLATELET- RICH FIBRIN (PRF) IN THE MAXILLARY ANTERIOR TEETH AT ODONTO-MAXILLOFACIAL HOSPIAL OF HO CHI MINH CITY IN 2023-2024

Abstract
Background: Biodentine is a biocompatible material with numerous advanced properties such as remineralization capacity, promotion of dentin bridge formation, and reduction of microleakage in retrograde filling treatments. The combination of Biodentine and platelet-rich fibrin in the treatment of apicoectomy with cyst curettage and retrograde filling has shown promising results, stimulating tissue regeneration. Objectives: 1. To describe clinical features, CBCT of maxillary anterior teeth with periapical cyst. 2. To evaluate the treatment results of maxillary anterior periapical surgery with retrograde filling by Biodentine and platelet-rich fibrin after 1 week, 3 months and 6 months. Materials and methods: From April 2023 to May 2024, 50 patients meeting the inclusion criteria and who returned for follow-up were included in the study, involving 50 periapical cysts related to 60 affected teeth. Treatment outcomes were assessed at 1 week, 3 months, and 6 months post-surgery. Healing was evaluated based on CBCT images. Results: Females accounted for 68% of the cases. The 26-45 age group constituted 52% of the study population. Dental caries was the cause in 56.7% of the cases, with the most common clinical symptom being pain and swelling (70%). The central maxillary incisors were the most frequently affected teeth. CBCT images revealed that 84% of the cysts were oval-shaped, and 72% had a size of less than 1 cm. Favorable clinical outcomes were observed in 84%, 96%, and 100% of cases at 1 week, 3 months, and 6 months, respectively. Complete healing was observed in the apical resection (R), apical bone defect (A), cortical bone window (C), and overall bone healing (B). Conclusions: Treatment of periapical cysts in maxillary anterior teeth through apicoectomy with cyst curettage and retrograde filling using Biodentine and platelet-rich fibrin demonstrates excellent results, with a high rate of healing.
