Abstract

 Background: Reproductive health is an essential part of overall well-being and medical students’ sexual education. Level of sexual knowledge and attitudes toward reproductive health affect their sexual behavior. Objectives: To determine knowledge, attitude, and practice of reproductive health among students of Lam Dong Medical College in 2024. Materials and methods: A crosssectional study was conducted on 504 students in Lam Dong Medical College  from January and March 2024. STATA 17.0 was used for the statistical analysis of the data collected. Results: The percentage of female students was 84.5%; male was 15.5% with a mean of age 20 years old. The most common health information channel was training programs/schools (70.8%); from television and the Internet (50.4%). The percentage of students with general reproductive health knowledge was quite low, 27.2%. The proportion of subjects with correct knowledge about contraceptive methods was 48.8%; of which 85.1% of students knew about condoms. The proportion of students with correct reproductive health attitudes was 49.0%. Among them, the proportion of subjects with favorable attitudes about premarital abortion (76.4%). 58.7% of subjects had correct reproductive health behaviors. The proportion of subjects who had sex with a partner was 66.9%. Students' correct behavior regarding the use of contraceptive methods was 99.0%. There was a correlation between students' scores of knowledge, attitudes and practices about reproductive health with r = 0.25; r=0.21; r=0.32, respectively p<0.05. Conclusions: Expanding training courses at school or organizing extracurricular counseling programs on contraceptive methods from clubs can help improve the content of reproductive health knowledge that students also had a low rate of correct answers.
