QUALITY OF LIFE AND RESULTS OF TREATMENT, SATISFACTION OF ACNE PATIENTS USING ISOTRETINOIN AT CAN THO DERMATO- VENEREOLOGY HOSPITAL AND FOB INTERNATIONAL COSMETIC DERMATOLOGY INSTITUTE IN 2022-2024

Abstract

Background: Acne is a common dermatological disease that can affect patient’s quality of life. Isotretinoin is a drug that affects all four pathogenesis of acne. However, isotretinoin has many side effects, and the relationship between this treatment and its psychosocial impact on patients has not been elucidated. Objectives: To determine the impact of acne on quality of life and evaluate the results of treatment, satisfaction levels of acne patients using isotretinoin at Can Tho DermatoVenereology Hospital and FOB International Cosmetic Dermatology Institute. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 134 patients with acne at Can Tho DermatoVenereology Hospital and FOB International Cosmetic Dermatology Institute. Results: Quality of life according to Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI): moderate impact was 79.85%, very large impact was 16.42%, little impact was 2.24% and extremely large impact was 1.49 %; mean DLQI score before treatment was 8.85 ± 2.54; clinical improvement after 12 weeks of treatment: the fair response was 49.25%, the good response was 38.81%, the average response was 5.97% and poor response or no response was 5.97 %; mean DLQI scores after 12 weeks of treatment were 3.96 ± 1.69; satisfaction with clinical symptom improvement was 91.79%, treatment-related satisfaction was 91.79, satisfaction with social life was 91.79%. Conclusions: Acne greatly affects the quality of life according to the DLQI scale, the use of isotretinoin for acne patients brings good clinical improvement, and enhances quality of life with satisfaction levels high.
