Abstract

 Background: Progressive sepsis is often severe and does not tend to go away on its own if not treated promptly. Antibiotic resistance in bacteria is a challenge that medical facilities must deal with. Thus, the necessity for proper interventions. Objective: Assessing knowledge and attitudes of doctors before and after intervention on the use of antibiotics in the treatment of sepsis at Ca Mau General Hospital in 2022-2023. Subjects and Method: Study on 118 doctors prescribed antibiotics for treatment at Ca Mau General Hospital in 2022-2023. All data was collected by questionnaires. SPSS 23.0 software was used for analyzing data. Results: Before the intervention, there were 68.6% correct general knowledge about antibiotic use and 25.4% correct attitude regarding antibiotic use; after the intervention, the former increased to 99.2% with an intervention effectiveness index of 44.6% and the latter increased to 34.7% with an intervention effectiveness index of 36.6%, the difference is statistically significant with p < 0.001. Conclusion: The hospital's doctors' attitudes and understanding on the use of antibiotics were significantly enhanced by the intervention.
