Abstract

Background: Gastroesophageal reflux is one of the most common digestive disorders. Currently, there are very few studies that pay attention to this aspect of patients' quality of life. Objectives: To determine the rate of quality of life and some associated factors in patients with gastroesophageal reflux. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 450 gastroesophageal reflux patients at Vinh Long General Hospital in 2023. Quality of life was assessed based on the standardized Vietnamese version of the Quality of Life in Reflux and Dyspepsia. Results: The proportion of gastroesophageal reflux patients at Vinh Long General Hospital in 2023 with poor quality of life was 27.6%. Gastroesophageal reflux in patients with long disease duration, patients with smoking habits and sedentary activities of more than 1 hour/day have poorer quality of life than the other groups, the difference is statistically significant. Conclusion:


The quality of life of Gastroesophageal reflux patients is reduced by prolonged illness, smoking habits, and sedentary activities.
