Abstract

Background: Osteoporosis  is becoming a  health problem and a burden because increasing mean ages and most of the patients admitted to the hospital are already in advanced stages, especially women because of the rick factors. Currently, bisphosphonates are the best drug articles treatment of osteoporosis but this has been little studied.  Objectives: Study of clinical characteristics, risk factors of osteoporosis, evaluation of the outcome of medical treatment with bisphophonaste infusion in women over 50 years of age with osteoporosis. Materials and methods: cross-sectional description on 25 women over 50 years of age with osteoporosis who have been diagnosed and treated at at The Joint Unit of Can Tho Central General Hospital. Results: Clinically spinal mechanical pain accounted for 88%, spinal deformity accounted for 72%; Fractures accounted for 60%. In terms of risk factors were thin physical condition, menopause ≥ 10 years; childbirth > 2 times and accompanied by chronic diseases, physical inactivity, did not drink milk with calcium supplements. The average T-score was -3.97 ± 0.89. After treatment, the majority responded clinically and the efficacy increased T-score was 0.77 with p< 0.05. Conclusion: Osteoporosis is difficult to detect due to few clinical symptoms, mainly based on many risk factors, most respond well to bisphosphonate transmission..
