Abstract

Background: Positive attitudes towards scientific research are connected with scientific research practice. However, understanding of attitudes towards scientific research and associated factors in nursing students is still limited. Objectives: To assess the attitude towards scientific research in nursing students and explore associated factors. Materials and Methods: A crosssectional study design was conducted on 238 nursing students studying at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2021. The Attitudes Toward Research Scale (ART) assessed nursing students' attitudes towards scientific research. Results: 76.1% of nursing students had a positive attitude towards scientific research. Age, academic year, have been or are studying for a scientific research course, have been or participating in scientific research topics, scientific research clubs, scientific research activities and understanding of research information in school had a significant impact on nursing students' attitudes towards scientific research. Conclusions: Nursing students had not a high level of positive attitude towards scientific research. Therefore, nursing administrators and educators need to consider the affected factors for appropriate interventions.
