KNOWLEDGE TO PREVENT HPV INFECTION IN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN LONG MY TOWN, HAU GIANG PROVINCE IN 2023

Abstract

Background: Human papillomavirus is the most common sexually transmitted disease virus today, causing benign or malignant diseases in both men and women. There are many ways to prevent Human papillomavirus infection, of which vaccination is effective. Objective: To determine the rate of correct knowledge about preventing Human papillomavirus infection and investigate the factors related to knowledge about preventing Human papillomavirus infection among high school students in Long My town, Hau Giang province in 2023. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 337 students using cluster sampling method. Results: The rate of correct knowledge about preventing Human papillomavirus infection among Long My High School students was 35.6%. 10th-grade students had poor knowledge about preventing Human papillomavirus infection compared to 12th-graders (OR= 2.986; p<0.001). Students having access to information about the Human papillomavirus had less knowledge of preventing Human papillomavirus infection than students having access (OR=2.193; p=0.001). Conclusion: The percentage of students with correct knowledge about preventing Human papillomavirus infection was low (35.6%). Factors of class and media access were positively related to correct knowledge.
