NGHIÊN CỨU TÌNH HÌNH NHIỄM TOXOCARA CANIS TRÊN BỆNH NHÂN ĐẾN LÀM XÉT NGHIỆM KÝ SINH TRÙNG TẠI BỆNH VIỆN TRƯỜNG ĐẠI HỌC Y DƯỢC CẦN THƠ NĂM 2022 – 2023

Abstract

Background: Surveying the prevalence of Toxocara canis infection and related factors in patients visiting the hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2022 - 2023, contributing to the prevention of parasitic diseases in a most effective way. Objectives: To determine the positive rate of anti – Toxocara canis antibody in patients who are prescribed for Toxocara canis testing at the Hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy by enzyme – linked immunosorbent assay method and to find out the risk factors associated to Toxocara canis infection in patients who have anti – Toxocara canis antibody. Materials and methods: Cross – sectional study of 154 patients taken ELISA method for examining Toxocara canis parasite at the hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy from June 2022 to June 2023. Results: In 154 patients agree to do the test, 23.4% cases were positive for ELISA test. The study showed that the majority of patients with Toxocara (+) were between the ages of 36 and 55 and resided in rural areas. In addition, when considering the risk factors, the differencess was not statistically significant between two groups. Conclusion: Toxocara canis seropositivity rate is 23.4%. There is no statistically significant difference between Toxocara canis positive and negative patient groups in terms of risk factors.
